KOSHISH empowers the downtrodden / poor / needy people to improve their  lives, their communities and their world forever. KOSHISH helps them to access their right to protection, basic education, proper healthcare, a healthy environment, livelihood opportunities and participation in decision which affect their lives.

At present we are indulged in:-

MEDICAL CAMPS

Kosish is holding free medical camps from time to time in slums and villages, so as to educate and treat the ill and needy persons. Free medicines are provided during these camps. More than 300 medical camps have already been conducted by specialist doctors in and around various villages of Hoshiarpur. More than 3 Lakh patients have benefited from the same.

EDUCATING THE UNEDUCATED

Kosish and its team members are aggressively utilizing their time in educating the children from the slums and the poor areas where either there parents are not in a position to bear the burden of the expenditures or are themselves uneducated thus barring their child to go to school.

FIGHTING AGAINST FEMALE FOETICIDE

KOSHISH and its team members are leaving no stone unturned to remove the blot of female foeticide on the society. For this they co-ordinate not only with health officials but also with social activists, educational and religious institutions. They believe that this can be done only by making women educated and self-dependent. From time to time various street shows and seminars are held to remove this stigma from the society.

ANTI DRUG CAMPAIGN

KOSHISH's anti drug campaign enables children and young adults to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to appreciate the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, promote responsibility towards the use of drugs and relate these to their own actions and those of others, both now and in their future lives. Various plays have been enacted by the team members of KOSHISH to educate the people about the results of the over usage of drugs and how to stay away from them. 

GIRL CHILD AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

The only way to bring about sustainable development in the poor condition of underprivileged women and girls in the country is to empower them – with education and good health. The program is overall mandated to create processes and environment for women and adolescent girls at the grassroots to realize their optimum potential in all facets of societal living and situations. The programme is specifically aimed at realization of both individual and collective self-esteem and inner strength for marginalized and socially excluded women and adolescent girls through innovative community practices.

SPECIAL SUPPORT PROGRAMME

KOSHISH constantly strives to support and empower individuals, particularly underprivileged children enabling them to meet basic ambitions of their life and realize their potential, make informed choices, resist oppression, fight for rightful existence and facilitate new possibilities and opportunities for them. KOSHISH takes up individual cases based on their immediate needs. These individuals are then given educational support in individual capacity, who are at risk of discontinuing their studies due to impoverished circumstances and have exhibited outstanding academic record. Individuals suffering from any critical diseases are provided support for their health; specific cases are also taken for rehabilitation wherein they are given educational support, vocational training, entrepreneurship training, counseling and provision for aids and appliances.

MASS MARRIAGES

KOSHISH and its team members believes that "Mass marriages are not shameful in fact the mass marriages are the solution against dowry." Due to unimaginable poverty, countless families are unable to get their young daughters and sisters married. KOSHISH supports parents in these difficult situations by providing them with basic necessary items including dresses, shoes, utensils, bedding, etc.

CARE OF THE ELDER & DEJECTED

KOSHISH and its team members are looking after the old couples either left at their own by their families or whose families are settled abroad.

OTHER SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

Other social work to help the society such as blood donation camps, dental checkups, AIDS awareness seminars, distribution of goods/ clothes to poor & needy, help & rehabilitation at accidental sites, prevention / disinfection for diseases like Malaria / dengue & hundreds of similar causes to benefit & help the society.
